Immersive jazz is a new music genre invented by Canadian pianist Rufus Lin. As a pianist, he has chosen to spend his time creating and recording immersive jazz music.
The main characteristics of immersive jazz are improvisation, a slow tempo, jazz and classical idioms, sustained notes, freely distorted rhythms, a clean, minimal aesthethic, and brief excursions, i.e. taking a motif and developing it while pausing, but eventually returning to, the original harmonic progression.
